Announcing Random Encounter, in cooperation with CGC Games

Greetings friends!

We're happy to announce this week that Level 99 Games has partnered with CGC Games, the creators of Terrene Odyssey, to handle the publication of their latest game, Random Encounter. Random Encounter is a combat-focused drafting game set in the world of Terrene Odyssey, and features a streamlined version of the Terrene Odyssey combat system on top of drafting mechanics for team building and equipping your party.

In the game, you will select your battle terrain, leader, units, and equipment, trying to build around and counter-play your opponent at every turn. The game plays 2-4 players, and takes only about 30 minutes. If you're looking for a high-action turn-based combat experience, look no further!

CGC will be bringing Terrene Odyssey to Kickstarter later this year. We'll let you know when it happens via our newsletter! We're excited to be working together with the creative game and graphic designers at CGC, who have partnered with us in the past to create some Millennium Blades Promos. Random Encounter takes all the best of Terrene Odyssey and adds some great new twists in the form of the drafting system and faster paced combat. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have!

Duelist Library: Commedia Dell'Arte

Greetings friends!

For this week's Duelist Library reveal, I'll announce the library-exclusive title, Commedia Dell'Arte! For those unfamiliar, Commedia Dell'Arte is a classical form of Italian Improvisational Theatre, using a set of distinct masked stock characters.

This game is one of five that will be available in the Duelist Library, coming to Kickstarter next month! If you want to be there as soon as the project goes live, make sure to sign up for our mailing list!

Designed by D. Brad Talton Jr., Illustrated by Stephanie Johnson

Comedy and Tragedy, Tragedy and Comedy, the two perform an endless dance upon the stage. But what is the real difference? Only whether the two lovers are together at the end!

In Commedia Dell’Arte, you will use your troupe of actors to play out a story of two lovers, the forces that come between them, and their ultimate fate. Will they be driven apart by the vicious Pantalone? United by the wily Columbina? Or mocked by the cunning Scaramouche? Your direction will decide how the scenes and stories of the theatre unfold.

The game takes just moments to learn, and each act will take only minutes to play. Commedia Dell’Arte is a fast-paced, pocket-sized game that will have you and your friends shouting ‘encore’!

  • Utilize 15 different characters from the classical Italian improvisational theatre to win the stage!
  • Fast, lightweight gameplay that takes only moments to learn and minutes to play.

-----

"Commedia" is my own entry into the Duelist Library, and is a minigame in the style of Love Letter or Dragon Punch. The box is a bit smaller than others in the Library, as it will be complemented by a box that also contains all of the library Promotional Cards and extras.

I hope you all enjoy this preview look at the Duelist Library so far! We'll be showing off the final game next week, and then it will be onward to card and rulebook previews as we move towards the launch of the project. Get hyped! :D

Anyway, enjoy Card Fusion Chaos!

Game Design by Alex Brock. Illustration by Fábio Fontes

Duelist Library: Ballistic Reign

Hey everyone!

Last week was a rough week for me, as I came down with a debilitating cold on Tuesday Night, and was bedridden until Saturday. But at last I'm back to work! And none too soon either, as we're shipping Millennium Blades in the USA this week. If you still need to get your copy of Millennium Blades, you can get all the Kickstarter Bonuses along with the base game in our online store!

Without further ado, I bring you the second game in the Duelist Library: Ballistic Reign!

War has come to the World of Indines. As the Mercenary King Gerard Matranga makes his bid to become the absolute ruler of Relecour, the fearful barons lock themselves away in fortresses of ancient stone. Mercenaries from across the world take to the field of battle, waging a proxy war on behalf of their opulent masters.

Take control of one of the Mercenary Companies of Indines and put your mastery of battlefield strategy to the test! Build great siege engines, cast powerful war magic, and erect impenetrable fortresses on the field of battle. Use your workers carefully to balance between maintaining your forces and manning the units and structures you build. Invest your time in spell research, economic development, defense, and offense by working together and against other mercenary companies and capturing neutral locations in your campaign. Only the shrewdest tactician will be able to conquer their foe and bring peace to Indines once more!

  • Play as 10 different Mercenary companies from the World of Indines universe, each with their own weapons, spells, and leader!
  • Recruit from over 70 different units and strongholds to build your forces!
  • A masterful fusion of Economic, Tactical, and Strategic gameplay!

------------------------

Ballistic Reign is the heaviest of the games in the new Duelist Library, but it offers a lot of depth and strategy, in the same vein as Pixel Tactics. Unlike Pixel Tactics, however, Ballistic Reign has a much heavier focus on the economic and engine-building elements of war, as you'll be able to refurbish and redeploy your constructs over and over, provided you can spare the work force to repair them.

I look forward to showing off some more previews of cards from this game soon! :D
